Updating Your Resume and Posting it on MavJobs

IT’S TIME TO UPDATE YOUR RESUME!!

You don’t HAVE a resume? Well, the place to start is the Career Development Center (CDC) Job Search Handbook. This handy resource will not only walk you through the resume development process, but also has great samples to use for ideas! http://www.mnsu.edu/cdc/documents/jshandbook.html
Your resume needs HELP. The staff of the CDC can assist you! We encourage you to stop by QuickStop or make an appointment with one of us to review your resume, answer your questions, and make suggestions to help you achieve the resume that best represents you!
Your resume is ready to be shared with employers. Great job! Let’s make your resume visible to employers who may be searching for your qualifications right now!
UPLOADING AND POSTING YOUR RESUME ON MAVJOBS
Why should you upload your resume on MavJobs? The main reason you should upload your resume is that a high percentage of job and internship postings on MavJobs require that you have an uploaded resume in the system to apply. Go to the “Documents” section of your MavJobs account to upload resumes, cover letters, copies of your transcript, and more. You can have up to 10 resumes uploaded in your MavJobs account. If you find a posting that requires you to submit your resume through the MavJobs system, just choose the resume you would like to submit from the drop down menu and click “submit.” For full application and document upload instructions, go to http://www.mnsu.edu/cdc/documents/student-guide.pdf.
Another GREAT reason to upload your resume to your MavJobs accountis that you can give employers permission to view your resume directly! Registered MavJobs employers can search the Student Resume Book to find candidates by major, year in school, and resume key word search. Want employers to find YOU?? Upload your resume following the instructions above, and under “Profile,” choose the “Privacy” tab and select YES under “Include in Resume Search."
Employers often look at student resumes and have the option to contact you about opportunities with their organizations. What a great ADDITIONAL way to job search – let employers come to you! Remember though, you want to make sure your resume is in GREAT shape before giving employers permission to view it, so be sure to contact the CDC if you would like our staff to assist you with making your resume the best it can be!
